Whole Beans, Ground Coffee, Green Beans
Guild of Fine Food
A warming aroma of frangipane and peach with a top note of jasmine florality. These notes carry into the palate, where the two coffees show clear and distinct character. Red fruit and sticky molasses underneath with the floral jasmine notes staying bright and clean on top. The coffee had good length, and retained its clarity throughout.

Where it all began
I'm a 1975 model, originally from Perthshire, Scotland, where I trained as a chef at Perth College UHI and began my career working in kitchens across Scotland. My passion for food has taken me around the world—from Tokyo and Europe to the Alps—before eventually settling in the heart of Kent.
After years as a chef, tour cook, ski chalet chef, bar manager and youth hostel manager, I found my true calling in coffee. Now based in Staplehurst, I roast every batch by hand in my micro-roastery, combining years of culinary experience with a passion for exceptional coffee.
St Apple Hurst Coffee was built around family life, allowing me to be a stay-at-home dad while creating something I genuinely love. For over ten years, I've worked closely with a trusted Kent-based green coffee importer, carefully sourcing outstanding coffees from around the world and roasting them in small batches to showcase the unique character of every bean.
Alongside our original signature blend, Kentish Dragon, I created Kentish Sunrise—a vibrant blend inspired by the Garden of England. Combining Kenya Peaberry and Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, it celebrates the orchards, blossoms, and craftsmanship of Kent while reflecting our commitment to quality, sustainability, and flavour.
I'm delighted that Kentish Sunrise was awarded a prestigious 1-Star Great Taste Award by the Guild of Fine Food, recognising the balance, flavour, and quality of the blend. This award is a proud milestone for my micro-roastery and reinforces my commitment to producing exceptional, small-batch coffee from the heart of Kent.
Whether you order online or visit us at one of Kent's farmers' markets, every bag of St Apple Hurst Coffee is roasted with care, passion, and the belief that great coffee should tell a story.
